Wishes simply couldn’t come true without people like you

A birthday at home. A familiar face. A favourite place. In the past 12 months the Ambulance Wish SA program fulfilled special wishes and created memories that last forever over 28 times. That’s more than one Wish every fortnight, but as the need for palliative care grows, so do our program’s Wish requests, and before June 30, your donation can help create lasting memories.

One of those wishes belonged to Ram.

On 22 April 2026, Ram’s Ambulance Wish was fulfilled when he returned home to celebrate his birthday with his family. Ambulance Wish South Australia, in collaboration with Southern Adelaide Palliative Service, made his special wish come true, creating memories that will last forever for Ram and his family.

Ram spent time at home, a place especially close to his heart, having worked closely with a builder to design it for his family. Ram had been hoping to return home for months and was especially excited that his visit coincided with his birthday celebrations.

He was welcomed by his family with a birthday cake, candles, and all his favourite foods. Ram enjoyed time eating, reminiscing, and simply being surrounded by those he loves. His children were overjoyed to have their dad home. They dressed up in matching shirts and wrote a heartfelt note expressing how much they love him, which they surprised him with during the wish.

Every wish is always free for the wish recipient and their family, and each wish costs us around $2,000 to fulfil, depending entirely on the generosity of donors.
