Giving back to the community Karpagha calls home
In January 2025, an incredible night brought together the Indian community to witness Karpagha’s Arangetram – her graduation ceremony onto the public stage. The event showcased a beautifully intrinsic performance, culminating in many years of hard work and dedication from the teachings and learnings of Barathanatyan, an Indian classical dance.
Over 300 selected family and friends, who have touched the family since they immigrated from Singapore, attended the event. The night was filled with colour, excitement, joy and pride with an overwhelming support of $8,450 being raised to fulfill wishes and create memories that will last forever for recipients of our Ambulance Wish SA (AWSA) Program. Karpagha chose to donate money to AWSA instead of receiving gifts or flowers for her performance. Her name translates to Wish Fulfilling Tree, so how incredibly fitting to choose this cause. Karpagha chose AWSA because it was a local cause, close to Rama’s heart (Karpagha’s Dad), having worked in the palliative care sector and because the AWSA program aligns with the family ethos to give back to the community. Karpagha’s Mum, Shanthi, commented that they call Australia home now and have happily embraced the Australian way of life, values, culture and community. The family have also been personally touched by a Palliative Care journey with family and friends.
